My Coaching Expertise

Are you a S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) expert who was promoted to a management or leadership position? You’ve gone from being the go-to person in your expertise to suddenly feeling unsure of how to deal with the people side of managing and leading. I work with people like you to coach you to better relationships with your boss and teams, improved delegation and time management skills, greater buy-in on your ideas, and confidence in your leadership role.

How Do I Know If I Need a Leadership Coach?

What is Coaching?

You’ve probably gone to trainings that were interesting, but did not have a lasting impact. As a coach, I use thought-provoking questions and active listening to help you shift perspectives, get “unstuck,” and try new tools in a supported environment. My clients value having dedicated time to think more strategically, a sounding board, and a partner to hold them accountable for the goals they set. Coaching engagements span over several months, giving you time to implement your new ideas and practices and see real change.

How Do I Know if Leadership Coaching Is Right for Me?

Coaching is helpful when you’ve recently changed roles or are preparing for a new role, you’re in the midst of organizational change, you’re experiencing challenges that don’t seem to be improving, or when you are feeling stuck and frustrated with your current circumstances. If you’re not sure what you would talk about with a coach, you can ask yourself:

  • What conversations am I avoiding?
  • What’s keeping me up at night?
  • What am I not thinking about that I should be?
  • What opportunities am I missing?
What Outcomes Can I Expect from My Coaching?

Results of my coaching clients vary depending on their goals and motivation. I like to ask my clients, “If it were a year from now, what has changed?” Most of my clients end their coaching engagements with increased self-awareness, more confidence, stronger work relationships, and improved leadership skills. The more open you are to new perspectives and trying new behaviors, the greater the changes will be.

Would I Be a Good Fit for Coaching?

My favorite clients are driven, motivated scientists and engineers who are feeling overwhelmed and need help navigating a new role or challenge. If you are willing to take an honest look at yourself, get feedback from others, do self-awareness exercises, and are committed to results, you would be a great fit for coaching!
